Please use our special 2005 PAYROLL TAX HOTLINE AND E-MAIL effective February 1st for any questions you or your faculty and staff may have about W-2s and other tax forms. These should be used for tax form questions instead of using the Help Desk.
** Tax Form HOTLINE = 212-851-2944
** Tax Form E-MAIL = w2@columbia.edu
Please note:
W-2 and 1099R (retiree) forms will be mailed to faculty and staff by this Wednesday, January 25th. This is in advance of the January 31st postmarking deadline. Most forms should be received by next Tuesday, January 31st. In cases where we have no U.S. address currently on file (we have 50-100 of these cases), the form is being sent by campus mail to the administrative department for distribution to the faculty or staff member.
Any address changes made after January 19, 2006 are NOT included in this mailing. The tax form would have been sent to the previous address on file. If you need a duplicate form based on a change of address, please contact the Payroll Tax Form Hotline at 212-851-2944 or w2@columbia.edu.
1099M forms for stipend payments will be issued from Accounts Payable. They will be based on PeopleSoft payroll information. If a 1099M form is missing, please contact Accounts Payable at 212-854-3921.
1042S (non-resident alien) forms will be mailed in February in advance of the March 15th deadline
All forms are mailed to the mailing address stored in PeopleSoft (the People @ Columbia system).
If we have nothing in the mailing address field in PeopleSoft, we are using the home address. We made this change based on requests from university faculty and staff. "Mailing address" is a current residential address, usually local, while "home address" is a permanent residential address.
To check year-to-date information each pay period, please view and print each pay statement at least one week before the next pay date. When viewing pay history, year-to-date information is available only for the most recent pay statement.
When accessing a pay statement via employee self-service for a prior pay period, you will not see year-to-date information on the statement.
