As part of its dedication to quality child care services for Columbia staff and students as well as for the residents of the Morningside Heights, Harlem, and Washington Heights/Inwood, Columbia University helps support six local day care centers. This support takes a variety of forms, ranging from scholarships provided through Columbia Community Service to the provision of volunteers and rent-free space.
Either a parent’s board or a board of trustees runs each of these six schools. Teachers are highly qualified and trained in the Early Childhood Education. The assistance provided by Columbia is important to the operation of each.
More information about these centers, as well as unaffiliated day care centers, is available from the Office of Government and Community Affairs and iits web site.
