The Dodge Physical Fitness Center is a multi-purpose facility used by Columbia University students, faculty, staff, alumni, their families (includes spouses, same-sex domestic partners, and children under 9 years old), and members from affiliated schools and organized community groups. All faculty and staff are required to pay an access fee to use the Dodge Fitness Center. Locker room services and other memberships can be purchased at the Membership Office, located on the fourth floor of the Fitness Center.

Dodge has a staff of qualified personal trainers that can help you design and implement an individualized exercise program targeting any or all of the following areas:  cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and general fitness.

Dodge’s facilities include:

  • Four basketball courts (also used for badminton, floor hockey, indoor soccer, and volleyball).
  • 15 squash/handball/racquetball courts.
  • An indoor 1/10 of a mile running track, competitively banked.
  • A three-level Fitness Facility featuring state-of-the-art aerobic and strength training equipment.
  • An eight-lane, 25-yard swimming pool.
  • A stretching area on the balcony.
  • Aerobic dance and multipurpose activities rooms.
  • Saunas (located in each fourth-floor locker room).
  • Two tennis courts at Pupin Plaza.
  • A wrestling room.

Faculty, officers, and staff with paid membership at Dodge are also eligible to take noncredit Physical Education courses or participate in the personal training program for an additional fee. For more information regarding these programs, contact the Physical Education office.

The Bard Athletic Center, located on the 3b level of Bard, encompasses a 20-yard swimming pool, three squash courts, a gymnasium, an aerobics room, lockers, showers, and saunas. Students can develop a workout program using the facility’s Nautilus exercise equipment, rowing machines, stair climbers, and treadmills, or may participate in a number of scheduled programs. The facility is accessible to people with disabilities.

The Tennis Center has six cushioned hard courts under a modern air dome. The Center is a recreational facility for students, faculty, officers, staff, and alumni. You can make reservations by calling the above number.

There are two separate seasons. During the winter season, you can either book the court on an hourly basis for the full 30 week season or just reserve courts whenever convenient. During the summer season, you can purchase an unlimited-play membership. For further information, visit the web site.

The Tennis Center is also the home court for the Columbia Lions Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams. Varsity matches are played here and are open to the public.
