The University provides information regarding the health effects and hazards of toxic materials in the workplace. Copies of the University program and material-safety data sheets are posted where required and are available upon request. For specific information, contact your supervisor or the Office of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety.

On the Morningside Campus, if your position requires you to work with hazardous materials, you will receive Hazard Communication Training from the Office of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety. Your department will arrange this training when you start work.

On the Health Sciences campus the Office of Environmental Health and Safety presents an annual mandatory lab safety course. All employees who work with hazardous materials are required to attend.

If you are an employee at Lamont-Doherty, call the Safety Office at (845) 365-8860 to enroll in the mandatory lab safety course for new laboratory employees.

The Environmental Health and Radiation Safety Office is also concerned with your health and safety in the workplace. In addition to providing training in laboratory safety and special training regarding hazardous materials, the department can also conduct office air quality evaluations and ergonomic consultations.
