During registration periods, the ID Center is open for extended hours. Student Administrative Services at the Medical Center issues, replaces, and validates Columbia Cards for staff and students at the Medical Sciences Campus. Important functions of your Columbia Card include:
- Visual identification
- Access to residence halls
- Dining Dollars
- Library borrowing privileges
- Access to administrative buildings
Resolving Problems
Campus card-readers and cardkey locks will not respond to your Columbia Card if you have not been granted specific privileges or access to certain buildings—such as Dodge Physical Fitness Center, residence halls, libraries, and areas secured with cardkey locks. The ID Center cannot grant such privileges or clear students for access to secured areas. Students must contact the appropriate office to resolve these problems. Keep in mind that it may take up to 24 hours for Columbia’s system to update cardholder privileges.
