More than 700 student athletes from Barnard College, Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering play for 14 men's and 15 women's intercollegiate teams, which compete at the NCAA Division I level (I-AA for football). The Columbia-Barnard Athletic Consortium, in which athletes from each undergraduate institution compete together under the name "Columbia University," is the only one of its kind in Division I.

Baker Field Athletic Complex

Baker Field, located at the northern tip of Manhattan at 218th Street and Broadway, is home to several Columbia Athletics facilities:
- Lawrence A. Wien Stadium, seating 17,000 (includes eight-lane, all-weather track).
- Soccer stadium, seating 3,500.
- Softball complex, seating 200.
- Andy Coakley Field (baseball), seating 500.
- Gould-Remmer and 1929 Boathouses (crew faciilities).
- Football/soccer practice fields.
- Chrystie Field House.
